CONDENSED COURSES OF EDUCATION FOR WOMEN

Condensed Courses of Education for Women

The Scheme of Condensed Courses of Education was initiated by CSWB in 1958 to cater to the needs of adult girls / women who could not join mainstream education system or were school dropouts. The scheme aims to provide educational opportunities to girls / women above the age of 15 years alongwith additional inputs of skill development /

vocational training. The main focus of the scheme is to ensure that contents of the course are need-based and modified according to local requirement, simultaneously targeting various stages of educational levels of primary / middle / high school and matric / secondary level courses. The programme also aims at instilling confidence among adult women through education making them able citizens. Selection of candidates is required to be done by a committee comprising the institution and the Principal / representative of a local government school of the area where the course is to be held. The Scheme is being implemented through Voluntary Organisations and educational institutions, having requisite infrastructure and experience in the field of women / social development and education across the country.

* In case the course is run in building owned by institution, no grant will be provided for rent. Instead, lump sum maintenance grant will be provided for.

Examination Authority:

Candidates shall be required to appear for School / Board examination to be conducted by a recognised State or National Institute authorised to award diploma / certificate to candidates who pass. Institution / Centre, which are, accredited with /affiliated to government agencies like National Institute of Open Schooling may also conduct examination.

NGO shall be required to ensure that funding received for a target group is fully utilised by the same number of beneficiaries as indicated in the proposal, or else grant shall be reduced proportionately. The NGO shall also give an end of year progress report of number of students who have passed / failed and reasons thereof. The NGO is expected to make all efforts to encourage failed students to take the course again for which it must apply for fresh funds.

Settlement of accounts is required to be done within one month at the end of one-year course to enable release of fresh grant.
